chemical free gardening, pasture raised poultry and animals in Ux. Ont. CSA workshare
We really enjoy a breakfast cookie. Testing this recipe because we have plenty of applesauce. If you want to exchange experience or want any tips or reviews, ask at our next meetup. Packing a few on the road as we are headed for spring clean up at Uxbridge Historical Centre (Museum & Archives) , dog park, Lenz and Trenz , maybe Kawartha Dairy.
This is my theme song. Shoppers want choice, let's given them something to get excited about. Once a month, be a vendor and a customer this season Uxbridge Historical Centre (Museum & Archives) .
I just came inside with a handful of green garlic and on a mission to have garlic bread. So I made a quick compound butter and made the best toast. Green garlic is immature garlic. You can use both the green and white part. When stopping in for eggs, remind me to harvest a few for you to try.
Green garlic is harvested while still immature, before the bulb has a chance to fully develop the cloves we know so well It looks a lot like a scallion, with a mild garlic flavor that’s bright and f...
So pretty. Instant stress because these babies belong to someone who's excited about her seedlings. Confessions from a woman farmer.
What could I be thinking when walking to the hoop house? How do we go from "we can do everything" to "oh no there's a lot to do". Mom would say, "Do whatever you can today, tomorrow is another day". Happy to pass this advice on to my daughter who inherited the "I can do everything" gene. So what am I thinking on the way to the hoop house? If anything died, that's one less thing to water.
Is garlic on your shopping list? Do you look for Ontario garlic? While we have 2023 garlic heads, green garlic is available from us anytime from now on request. This is young fresh garlic. You cut the roots and use both the white and green part. Similar to using green onions. More rain on the way, garlic does not like soggy soil. Fortunately our chickens can avoid the wet patches, but a few don't seem to mind it. #needsmoregarlic
Yes. Hosting volunteers since 2009. Our very first volunteer experience was life changing. Her star is still hanging up in the barn when she returns to visit. (Hint) Made many lasting relationships, watched them grow up, get married and have families of their own. We stopped hosting volunteers in 2023 but always appreciate helping hands who want to learn and get their hands dirty. Thank you to those who have helped and still look for us.
This is a reminder that you can still grab a farm calendar. All proceeds go towards feeding our barnyard friends. As a thank you, we offer up to 1 hour personalized visit. Photo credit, our farm friend share. Let's see if next month her birds will be just as excited.
