What we do….
Plant healthy cloves in fertile soil with full sun. Remember your bone meal for root development. Crack the heads, and plant single cloves on the full moon in October. 4″ deep by 6″ (up to 12″ apart). From April. weed and scout for pests, and damage, cover garlic with row cover. From June, remove scape (flower pod) as soon as possible, the longer you leave it, the more fibrous. (we make pesto, jam, salt). Harvest when there are 5 to 4 green leaves left. Dig out the head, brush off dirt, peel one layer. Hang to dry or lay out on screens with fans, dehumidifier. Away from sunlight. Curing takes 3 to 6 weeks. braid or cut off roots and stalk and hang in an onion bag at room temperature.
Stop in on a Sunday. We roast green beans, and have coffee ready for 10 am. Located in beautiful Uxbridge, Ontario, trail capital of Canada.
